“A wonderful way to enable respectful, creative, emotional interactions”

We believe everyone has a right to share the stories of everyday life.

Personal stories are how we connect to friends, carers and family. They are how we make sense of what happens in our lives - they are central to our sense of who we are.

Some people may find it hard to tell and recall these personal narratives because of difficulties in communication and memory.

Storysharing supports people with communication difficulties to share stories about their everyday experiences.

Communication

Storysharing develops listening, social interaction, empathy and friendships.
“Knowing you’ve been listened to, and understood - that is such a powerful thing, and if you’ve got that then you are going to say something more.”

Collaboration

Storysharing is a collaborative and person-centred approach to communication.
"I can see a difference in our young people and how you have helped us in opening up their world. I know 100% that we will all continue to use and develop what we do and share the good practice with others."

Confidence

Storysharing is an effective way of increasing the confidence needed to have a voice in meetings, make friends and build relationships.
“There’s empowerment and ownership, and engagement – it’s key to learning.”
